Tool Definition Quality Score — an open framework for scoring how well MCP tool definitions communicate to AI agents.

TDQS grades MCP tool definitions on six weighted per-tool dimensions (purpose clarity, usage guidelines, behavioral transparency, parameter semantics, conciseness, contextual completeness) plus four server-level dimensions, producing a score, letter tier (A–F), and written justifications. It combines deterministic schema analysis with model-based rubric grading. Available as a specification, a reference implementation on npm and PyPI, a CLI (mcp-tdqs) for terminal and CI gating, a browser playground, and a hosted HTTP API (30 calls/day per account). Reports have permanent pages and SVG badges.
