Pinto Notes
A free, open-source notes app for Mac that AI assistants like Claude, Claude Code, Codex and Incredible can search, read and edit with your approval.
Pinto Notes is a Mac notes app that looks and feels like Apple Notes, with folders, pinned notes, checklists, tables and a date-sorted note list. It includes a built-in MCP server (Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 or bearer token) at https://mcp.pintonotes.com, so AI apps connect directly without a separate server. Users approve each AI app on their Mac and choose read-only or read-and-edit access; AI changes are shown with attribution and Undo, and previous versions are kept in note history. Notes are stored as markdown, sync between Macs through the cloud, and are end-to-end encrypted on the device with a key carried by iCloud Keychain. It imports Apple Notes with their folders, and also imports from Obsidian, Bear, Evernote and Keep. Notes can be locked with a separate password. The Mac app requires macOS 26 or later; an iPhone app is coming soon. Formerly called Amber Notes until October 2026. Made by Emil Wagman at Incredible.
