ExchangeRate-API is a currency converter API that returns exchange rate data as JSON. It offers a Standard endpoint returning rates from a base currency to all supported currencies, a Pair Conversion endpoint, and paid-plan endpoints for enriched data (currency names, symbols, country info) and historical data going back to 1990 for some pairs. Data is blended from multiple central bank and commercial sources and classified as indicative midpoint rates. Free plan updates once per day with 1.5K requests/month; paid plans offer hourly or 5-minute updates, higher quotas, and multi-AZ AWS infrastructure.
