Bifrost (by Maxim AI) is an open-source AI gateway that exposes a single OpenAI-compatible API in front of 1000+ models from 8+ providers. It provides routing, automatic provider fallback, load balancing, semantic caching, virtual keys with budgets and rate limits, an MCP gateway, guardrails, and OpenTelemetry-based observability. Written in Go, installable via npx @maximhq/bifrost, Docker, Kubernetes, or a Go binary.
